Banzai!

January 24, 2008

With John McCain being the putative front runner, it worth noting that several weeks ago he said that he thought it would be fine to stay in Iraq for 10,000 years if need be

The Japanese war cry from WW II fame,”Banzai!” literally means “10,000 years”, meaning that the imperial regime should last 10,000 years. So should McCain’s campaign adopt “Banzai!” as their campaign slogan?

Funny though that in New Hampshire among Republican primary voters who opposed the war, McCain had the largest support, even more than Ron Paul who actually opposes the war. Maybe “10,000″ years is being interpreted as a code word for “get out now” by confused voters?
