NATO Secretary General Jaap De Hoop Scheffer said this Wednesday at the meeting with the Macedonian President Branko Crvenkovski, A1 TV station cited diplomatic sources as saying.

No press conference was scheduled after the meeting.
According to Crvenkovski’s Cabinet, NATO chief reiterated that the name of the country is not a precondition for membership in NATO. Nonetheless, he requested information on the progress of the ongoing talks under meditation of Matthew Nimetz.

Crvenkovski briefed Scheffer that the state leadership reached a consensus on this issue and that the remarks had been already delivered to Nimetz.

So, you don’t need a name, or you can have any name at all, to join NATO.

Oh well, there’s one place Macedonia can go
