Problems with being a landlocked state

The US and its neighbors were able to stop an arms shipment to Zimbabwe this week. Zimbabwe doesn’t have direct access to the sea. Its neighbors South Africa and Mozambique do, while its other neighbors to the west themselves are landlocked.

Another blow to Chinese prestige in the midst of the pre-Olympic chaos. Pointing out that the US is the world’s greatest arms merchant, China has given itself another reason to resent the West.
