Article 267 of the Thai constitution

September 9, 2008

Thailand is another shining example of democracy in action with the forced resignation of the country’s (unpopular) prime minister due to the fact that he hosted a TV cooking show before becoming PM. Where ran afoul of the nation’s courts was making several appearances on said show after taking office, and for giving “conflicting testimony” about it.  Thai law says you can’t moonlight as prime minister, although the now former PM says he was only paid for travel and the ingredients he used on the show. Nevertheless, he’s outta there.
