Brit writer’s anti-bizspeak campaign

June 17, 2008

Even the homeland of the English language is infected by bizspeak. Brits can be a dour people. Anyway, Lucy Kellaway of the FT and BBC Magazine is urging all English speaking business types to stop “going forward” and get rid of the mindlessly upbeat and meaningless jargon that masks true communication. The joke is, there really isn’t much to communicate. The real hoot is the compilation from readers of the BBC of 50 bizspeak phrases from the English speaking world. London bankers look under the bonnet, while New Yorkers would look under the hood.
