Was Benazir Bhutto was a Christian?

October 5, 2008

Former Congressman Mark Siljanders was interviewed on a local show this morning. It sounded like he said that he believes that Benazir Bhutto was a Christian. Siljanders represented the MIchigan 6th district for three terms in the 1980s, She was popular with Catholics in Pakistan.

He was promoting his new book, A Deadly Understanding: A Congressman’s Quest to Bridge the Muslim-Christian Divide. Unfortunately for Siljanders, he has been charged with “for allegedly laundering money for a charity linked to terrorists.” He reportedly “concealed lobbying fees for a group that the federal government charges with funneling money to an Afghan warlord with ties to al Qaeda. ” This was part of some fund raising that Siljanders said he was doing to finance the writing of the book, which seeks to reconcile members of the Islaimic and Christian faiths. This guy thinks there were more base motives.

Quite a change of heart you have to say, considering:

Siljander, known for his hard-line support of Israel, was a conservative who fought hard for anti-abortion causes in Congress. The primary race with Upton turned after a recording of Siljander asking local pastors to “break the back of Satan” by praying for his reelection was released late in the campaign.

Palin’s first foreign policy controversy

October 2, 2008

PM Asif Ali Zardawi of Pakistan in under criticism at home after ‘flirting’ with Governor Palin during their tryst meeting at UN a week ago. Like proponents of the US bailout bill, Zardawi has been hearing it from the left and right in his country:

A radical Muslim prayer leader said the president shamed the nation for “indecent gestures, filthy remarks, and repeated praise of a non-Muslim lady wearing a short skirt.”

Feminists charged that once again a male Pakistani leader has embarrassed the country with sexist remarks. And across the board, the Pakistani press has shown disapproval.

Would Palin need to cover up when meeting Muslim heads of state?

So, what does Todd think?

September 25, 2008

Pakistani PM Zardari (Mister Ten Percent) would like to hug Governor Palin because she’s so gorgeous, while at nearly the same time his military was firing at US helicopters straying over the Pakistani border from Afghanistan. Might a VP Palin be necessary to stave off war with Pakistan? We live in strange times.
